CCCI Lecture Series Fall 2015

 

Our FALL 2015 Cornell Contemporary China Initiative Lecture Series will run on Mondays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm in Kaufmann Auditorium, Goldwin Smith G64.

September 14: SIDA LIU (Sociology and Law, University of Wisconsin-Madison) - "The Ecology of Organizational Growth: Chinese Law Firms in the Age of Globalization"

September 21: YU ZHOU (Geography, Vassar College) - "The Chinese State and Green Buildings in China"

September 28: SEBASTIAN VEG (Research Professor, School for the Advanced Study in Social Sciences in Paris) - "New Intellectuals in a Changing Public Space"

October 5: MARIA REPNIKOVA (Postdoctoral Fellow, Project for Advanced Research in Global Communication, University of Pennsylvania) - "Critical Journalists and the State in China: The Case of Guarded Improvisation"

October 19: ANNETTA FOTOPOULOS (Ph.D. candidate, Asian Literature, Religion & Culture, Cornell University) - "Projecting Multiethnicity into the Past: The Latest Retelling of the Yue Fei Story"

October 26: MICHAEL MEYER (English, University of Pittsburgh) - "In Manchuria: A Village Called Wasteland and the Transformation of Rural China"

November 2: NICK ADMUSSEN (Asian Studies, Cornell) - "The Lyric Copy: from the Hundred Flowers to the Mongrel Coalition"

November 9: AMINDA SMITH (History, Michigan State University) - "Legacies of 'Brainwashing': Cold War Ideology and Modern Chinese History"

November 16: BASILE ZIMMERMANN (East Asian Studies, University of Geneva) - "Waves and Forms: Electronic Music Devices and Computer Encoding in China"
