The Vice Provost for International Relations welcomes applications for the Spring 2013 competition of the Jeffrey Sean Lehman Fund for Scholarly Exchange with China. Application deadline is Friday, February 1, 2013.
Established in honor of former President Lehman's commitment to fostering Cornell's global linkages, and in particular to building partnerships with Chinese universities, the Lehman Fund supports exchanges and/or research collaborations between Cornell faculty and graduate students and their counterparts at China's major research universities. Through an annual competition, the Fund provides a small number of grants up to $20,000 each to initiate qualifying research projects, sponsor research-related conferences or workshops, host visitors from China, or support faculty travel to China to work with colleagues there on collaborative research projects.
Preference will be given to projects that:
-Create new or complement existing research linkages between Cornell and Chinese universities;
-Show a strong likelihood of continuing beyond the grant period;
-Rely in part on or lead to obtaining external grant funding;
-Would not take place without support from the Lehman Fund or the scope or quality of proposed activities would be greatly reduced without Lehman Fund resources;
-Focus on collaborative research
Eligibility:
-Tenured and tenure-track faculty
-Senior Lecturers, Senior Research Associates, Research Associates
-CU graduate students in a degree program in any discipline
