Cornell Contemporary China Initiative lecture series for Spring 2016 launches Monday, February 8!

CCCI Spring 2016 Lecture Series

Our Spring 2016 Cornell Contemporary China Initiative Lecture Series will run on Mondays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm in Kaufmann Auditorium, G64 Goldwin Smith.

FEBRUARY 8: Yongheng Deng (Real Estate and Finance, National University of Singapore) - "Evaluating the Risks of Chinese Housing Market: What We Know and What We Don't Know"

FEBRUARY 22: Zachary Howlett (Anthropology, Cornell University) - "China's National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao) as a Fateful Rite of Passage: 'A Great Army Crossing a Narrow Plank Bridge'"

FEBRUARY 29: Bai Gao (Sociology, Duke University) - "One Belt, One Road:  China's Grand Strategy for the 21st Century"

MARCH 7: Leta Hong Fincher (East Asian Languages and Cultures, Columbia University) - "China's 'Leftover' Women and the End of the One-Child Policy"

MARCH 14: Timothy Oakes (Geography, University of Colorado at Boulder) - "China's 'Leftover' Women and the End of the One-Child Policy"

MARCH 21: Alex Wang (Law, UCLA) - "The Promise (and Peril) of Environmental Law Reform in China" **This talk will be in 390 Myron Taylor Hall.

APRIL 4: Yujie Zhu (Centre on China in the World, Australian National University) - "Cultural Heritage Fever in China: Discourse and Practices"

APRIL 11: Wu Man (Chinese pipa virtuoso and composer) - "My Music Education in China"

APRIL 19: Suzanne Scoggins (Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law (CDDRL), Stanford University) - "Policing in the Shadow of Protest" 

APRIL 25: Philip Tinari (Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing) - TBA
